A website is one of the most important ways to promote your business.
Before people decide to visit your organization or business, they will most likely try to find more information about you online. If you provide no information for them online, they may get the wrong impression or even worse they will decide not to visit or get in touch with you. Even if you have a website, you can scare them away with information overload or not enough information. So here it – these are three quick tips that will help to improve your website.
Tip 1: Do Get to the Point
Don’t waste you and your viewers' time by added needless information and wordy jargon. Get to the point. Communicate what you need to so that your visitor can get the information they need, and potentially contact you. The last thing you want is your viewer getting lost and overwhelmed in text that is unnecessary.
Tip 2: Don't Put Announcements on Sliders
One of the most ineffective ways of sharing news or information is through sliders (also known as carousels). Use blogs as a form of a press release to share news and information. You’re better off simply trying to capture your organization's mission in that one image. In your image, you can use somewhere around three to five words to help clearly communicate. Don’t use more than five words because that can overwhelm the viewer with too much information.
Tip 3: Do Use Your Real Estate Wisely
Make sure you use the space on your website wisely. First impressions are extremely important. Be sure that the first impression you make is welcoming and inviting. Also have it representing the characteristics and personality of your organization. According to CXL, they explain that “It takes about 50 milliseconds (ms) (that’s 0.05 seconds) for users to form an opinion about your website that determines whether they’ll stay or leave.” That is not a lot of time you have to impress people, so make the best of the time they give you.
Now, these three quick tips are not all the tips you need to know to have an effective website, nor are they the top three important tips for your website. These are simply three quick tips to improve your website.
